Global Warming Facts Interview

Are the reported Facts about Global Warming just fraud?

To learn more about the supposed Global warming Fraud, I interviewed Thomas Richard, the editor of www.climatechangefraud.com.

Here is the transcript of this intriguing interview, done in June 2010:

Home of Solar Energy:

Hello Tom, thanks for allowing me to ask you some questions, which I am sure are of great interest to the readers of Home of Solar Energy. Your website strongly suggests that the facts about Global Warming show it as a fraud.

When I first found your page, I was intrigued to see that someone takes a completely contrarian standpoint on Global Warming. Can you tell us about your website climatechangefraud.com and your view on Global Warming? Who are you guys? Are you scientists?

Tom Richards from Climate Change Fraud:

ClimateChangeFraud.com is a one-man show created and maintained by myself. I am a freelance writer who does this site in his spare time.

Home of Solar Energy:

I have the impression that climatechangefraud.com is more like a magazine where you publish reports made elsewhere, correct? Do you publish own research or new research finding on ClimateChangeFraud, too?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

An online magazine would be a good description. I also publish articles sent to me by readers, as well as contributing my own stories after researching a certain topic that I believe needs exploring. Any new reports or findings are referenced back to the originating site.

Home of Solar Energy:

Why are you doing this work? I find that mostly Climate Contrarians have their own agenda, like religious beliefs or are paid by the oil industry… what is your motivation to publish information and facts about Global warming?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

I was growing increasingly weary by what I was reading in the mainstream media regarding man’s impact on the climate. It started to sound like eco-religion, a belief in something NOT proven by science, but by consensus. The belief in man-made global warming has more to do with worship of something invisible, i.e., God, than in something based in fact. In the last 100 years, global temperatures have increased by 1°C. This is based on ground surface stations, interpolation, and only in the last 30 years, satellite. No one knows for sure what’s even going on in the troposphere. You have to be able to replicate findings, which they are not doing with climate change research. Also, climate contrarian is a bit pejorative. I prefer climate skeptic.

Home of Solar Energy:

How did you come about the idea that the so called facts about Global Warming are a fraudulent, as you call it?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

As I said before, I did my own research and started with an open mind. I’m actually fairly liberal in my views and quickly discovered how political the science had become. That, sadly, is wrong. After months and months of reading, surfing, and cross-checking what I could find, I realized that an entire multi-billion dollar cottage industry had been built around the theory of man-made global warming. That was when I knew something was seriously amiss. Now it is a multi-trillion dollar industry. An enormous fraud is being perpetrated on the public, and it’s being spearheaded by politicians, some journalists, and activist scientists.

Facts about Global Warming: 2010 warmest April ever?

Home of Solar Energy:

April 2010 has been the warmest April in recorded climate history (about 150 years?). Do you doubt that? If not, wouldn’t that proof the point of the global warming warners?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

Based on what? Rickety weather stations and climate models? I could say that 2010 was the coldest year based on verifiable findings from the Medieval Warm Period. Would that mean we were heading into an ice age? Absolutely not. There are lies. And then there are statistics.

Home of Solar Energy:

If climate change and especially Global Warming is a fraud as you claim, isn’t one of the upsides the introduction of Renewable Energies into our energy mix? Do you oppose the development of renewable energies like solar and geothermal?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

I absolutely think renewable energies will play a larger role in the future. Are we there yet? No. Will we get there? I hope so. All “green” energy has it’s negatives and positives. I personally think that we will have a hydrogen future, but getting it currently uses a lot of energy. Wind is only reliable as, well, the wind blowing. Solar only as reliable as the length of the day and type of weather. Geothermal is a very localized form of energy output.

Facts about Global Warming: Important for Changing our Energy Mix?

Home of Solar Energy:

If you support the renewable energies, isn’t the Global Warming discussion what is needed to switch to fund finding alternatives, to break the lobbies opposing new inventions and to sensitize the population to changes?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

Just like any industry, the market will determine the outcome. Price and parity for green energy is not there yet. Taxpayers should not be asked to fund green energies. Then it becomes a boondoggle and another cottage industry. Look at what happened when Congress funded farmers to jumpstart farming in this country. We still can’t get rid of those subsidiaries because that would mean a politician losing votes. The price of milk is also inflated because of subsidiaries. The list is very long when politicians start funding any industry.

Home of Solar Energy:

Do you believe that climate change is a fraud or “only” the so called facts about Global Warming?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

I think, based on the current evidence, that we are going through a natural climate variation, just as we did during the Medieval Warm Period. It was so warm during that time that they were growing grapes in England for wine. This was followed by the little ice age, where the Thames river froze and the Northern Hemisphere had snow during the summer (attributed correctly to volcanic activity). The fraud is thinking that our pumping of CO2 into the atmosphere is having the dire effects that Al Gore would have us think. Current measurements say it’s roughly 380 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere. That’s .038%. People should read that again: .038% of the atmosphere. If you had a bowl filled with a million red jelly beans and mixed in 380 green ones, they would literally be invisible. CO2 simply doesn’t have the radiative force to cause the kind of warming the IPCC is predicting.

Facts about Global Warming: It is just a belief!

Home of Solar Energy:

What would you tell me if I told you that I believe in Climate Change, but a Global Cooling, not a Global Warming?

Tom from Climate Change Fraud:

You are free to believe anything you like, but I’d suggest doing it in a church. 😉 If you think based on current evidence and supporting documentation that we are headed for a global cooling, I would say to you that climate always changes. That’s its nature. Saying you believe climate changes is akin to saying you believe the mean distance of the Sun from the Earth is approximately 149.6 million kilometers.

Home of Solar Energy:

Thank you very much Tom for sharing your point of view with our readers.
